No layoffs at this UAE company, chairman says

  DUBAI – UAE-based Danube Group will not have layoffs despite the economic impact of Covid-19, its chairman announced on Saturday (April 11). "There are layoffs across the region and worldwide but we are not going to cut staff at Danube Group,” said Rizwan Sajan during a webinar by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC). Sajan added, “All the construction sites are running and people are working but not as fast as it used to be. Other developers who are able to pay have also their sites working". Building materials supplier Danube Group employs 3,600 people in 31 branches around the world. Meanwhile, Sajan hoped that the coronavirus pandemic will be over soon. “Covid-19 is not going to last longer. We should be out of it in three months," he said.
