Kinder Surprise product recalled in UAE over salmonella scare
The manufacturer of a popular European chocolate brand recalled a Kinder product on sale in the UAE over the recent salmonella outbreak in the UK. The batches of Kinder Surprise Maxi 100 GR with the expiry date of October 1, 2022, have been voluntarily recalled in the UAE and in Qatar by the Ferrero Gulf as a precautionary measure. Kinder Surprise eggs have been linked to salmonella and over 60 people, mostly young children in the UK showing symptoms of diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever, according to the UK Food Standards Agency.Several Kinder chocolate products, particularly the 20g eggs and the three-pack of eggs with best before dates between July 11, 2022, and October 7, 2022, have been widely recalled. Didier Laffineur, regional managing director of Ferrero Gulf assured that no Kinder product in the GCC has been tested positive for salmonella. Since most of the reported cases of salmonella were related to Kinder products manufactured in Belgium including the large Kinder Surprise Maxi 100 GR, it is the only item that was removed from the stores. As of this writing, no deaths relating to the salmonella cases have been reported in the UK.
