UAE travelers consider an airline's reputation, safety record important; respondents in survey also prefer more comfortable seats

DUBAI - What do frequent travelers from the UAE consider before booking a flight? It's an airline's reputation and safety record. This was shown by the "Future of Air Travel" survey conducted by Forsa Study for Turkish Airlines, which revealed that 94 percent of UAE passengers believe that an airline's reputation is either important or very important before booking a ticket and they also check the airline's safety record. Sixty-five percent of the respondent said they prefer more comfortable seats while 94 percent said they would want to have wider economy class seats. Emre Ismailoglu, Turkish Airline general manager for Dubai and the Northern Emirates region, said: "UAE travelers have revealed their varied expectations from airlines for the future which is a good indicator of where the bar needs to be raised within the aviation sector. Safety continues to be the biggest concern for passengers closely followed by their comfort in the air." The respondents were asked about the cleanliness of cabin and washrooms, friendly and attentive staff, wider seat space, onboard catering, sense of security, and welcome drinks variety. Meanwhile, the survey revealed that 55 percent of UAE passengers took long-haul flights while 44 percent booked medium-haul flights and 20 percent booked short-haul trips. With regard onboard catering, 84 percent of UAE travelers prefer a wide variety of menu options rather than standard fare. Ninety-four percent of the respondent rank cleanliness of the cabin and washrooms as important or very important and 90 percent would want friendly and attentive airline staff.
