UAE: Applying for International Driving Permit with a UAE license
The International Driving Permit (IDP) is a translation of your national driving license that allows you to drive in other countries without taking additional examinations or application papers. Most countries require visitors to have an IDP if they wish to drive outside of the country that issued their license. Some car rental companies accept your local license at their discretion, while others may require an IDP and would likely refuse a rental if you cannot comply with the document.
