Two individuals jailed for stealing a total of Dh3.75 million from a businessman using fake Bitcoin deal

The Dubai Criminal Court found an Asian and Gulf national guilty of stealing Dh3.75 million worth of possessions from a businessman. The duo swindled an Asian businessman into partaking in a fake Bitcoin deal in Al Barsha, Dubai last year. The businessman filed the report in July 2021 claiming that the thieves robbed him of Dh3 million and a watch worth Dh750,000. The suspects admitted to their crimes and have been charged with theft and involuntary detention of the victim. They will be sentenced to three years in prison, followed by deportation from the UAE, and are ordered to pay a fine of Dh3 million plus the value of the stolen watch. BKM/ Expat Media
