Man jailed in Dubai for stealing cables, scraps worth Dh130,000

  DUBAI – A 34-year-old man has been jailed for stealing cables and scraps worth Dh130,000 from a warehouse in Dubai. The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced the Asian man to nine months in jail for theft and bribery. Records showed that the man had taken the cables and scraps from the warehouse of the company that he worked for. He was going to sell them for Dh15,000. He was caught after an assistant safety engineer spotted him and two other men loading the items at the work site on a Friday (June 11). The engineer said that the men attracted attention for working on their day off and for wearing different safety helmets. When confronted, the Asian man told allegedly told him they were doing personal work. When the engineer insisted on an explanation, the man allegedly offered him Dh1,000 so he will not report the theft. During interrogation, the Asian man told investigators that he was collecting unusable cables that he thought the company no longer needed. ICA/Expat Media
