Man jailed in Dubai for impersonating CID officer

A 39-year-old man has been jailed in Dubai for impersonating an officer of the Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). A court in Dubai sentenced the fake CID officer to three years in jail and a fine of Dh5,000. The man’s identity has been withheld for legal reasons. The man harassed a security guard at the building where he worked and introduced himself as the general supervisor of the building. He claimed that the security guard was misbehaving. He then took a picture of the guard’s ID card, and of the security guard’s face. He claimed he was a CID officer. Suspecting something was wrong, the security guard called his supervisor over the radio. The supervisor then alerted the police. The impersonator was arrested and his case was referred to the Public Prosecution where he admitted to the crime. ICA/Expat Media
