African gets 10 years in Dubai jail for marijuana in suitcase

  An African man caught with three rolls of marijuana in his suitcase will be spending 10 years in jail after a Dubai court found him guilty of importing narcotics. The case dates back to November 2021 after a customs inspector at Dubai Airport found the rolls of marijuana in the man’s suitcase. The marijuana weighed a total of 600 grams. During interrogation, he claimed that the suitcase belonged to his girlfriend, who also boarded the same flight. He said that she registered the suitcase under his name. He denied knowing the contents of the suitcase. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in jail, followed by deportation. He was also fined Dh50,000. ICA/Expat Media
