Abu Dhabi launches program to address future food security crises

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has announced the commencement of an initiative to create a gene bank. The gene bank would aid in the development of creative solutions and combat future food security concerns. To implement top-notch worldwide standards in agricultural genetic research, the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Genome Program collaborated with various national research institutions in the UAE. Various plant, animal, and fish farming breeds will be produced locally to ensure increased agricultural productivity. The initiative will aid in meeting the emirate's climatic and environmental difficulties and safeguard indigenous plant, animal, and fish genetic resources. The program is designed to ensure the improvement of sustainable agricultural output to increase food security. BKM/ Expat Media
