Women in Abu Dhabi to get free domains for crypto, NFT and blockchain

  Women who are residents of Abu Dhabi will be given free domains for crypto, NFT and blockchain as part of a new initiative by Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Access Abu Dhabi. ADIO and Access Abu Dhabi have partnered with NFT domain name provider Unstoppable Domains to provide free crypto domains to women. “The partnership with Unstoppable Domains to provide free crypto domains to all women in Abu Dhabi embodies the emirate’s promise of inclusion, while creating opportunities for private sector participation in a fast-growing space,” said Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, acting director general of ADIO. The initiative provides women with full ownership of a decentralised web address and digital identity, unlike Web2 domains that are leased for fixed periods through third-party brokers. “Abu Dhabi is ensuring the future of Web3 is built around a powerful infrastructure that appeals to all members of the community,” Al Shamsi said. Abu Dhabi aims to become the Middle East’s crypto hub. Currently, women make up only 5 percent of cryptocurrency users worldwide, while only 12 percent are in blockchain. ICA/Expat Media
