UAE: Delivery riders air out work concerns, halts Deliveroo services

Several residents, including restaurateurs, resorted to social media to voice their displeasure with the 'delays' caused by Deliveroo's work-related concerns. Annu George, a restaurant co-owner, said that they had not received a single order from Deliveroo throughout the day. “It is quite unusual. Usually, we receive several lunch orders on the Deliveroo platform, but today we received nothing,” she said. In the evening, the food delivery platform notified its restaurant partners via e-mail stating that they were working to fix their issues. The delivery riders also vented on social media posts stating that hundreds of them were upset about the salary cuts, which led them to refuse to comply with work until they are granted ‘better work conditions.’ Following the increase in fuel prices, the company reportedly reduced the order rates and extended the working hours of their drivers.
