Travel ban on non-vaccinated UAE citizens starts January 10

DUBAI – UAE citizens or Emiratis who are not yet vaccinated against Covid-19 will be hit with a travel ban starting from January 10, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC). The announcement by the ministry, in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, is in line with the UAE’s vision in the recovery phase of the pandemic. It is also aimed at enhancing national efforts in all sectors, due to the global epidemiological situation and the current high rate of infections, to preserve the health and safety of citizens. The ministry also stressed the requirement to receive the booster dose for vaccinated citizens as per the national protocol on travel. Those exempted from the travel ban are citizens who have not received the vaccine due to medical exemptions, as well as humanitarian cases, and individuals traveling for medical and treatment purposes. Authorities emphasized the importance of ensuring that all travelers adhere to preventive measures, investigating the epidemiological situation in travel destinations, and communicating with diplomatic missions in the country in case of suspected infection.
