Sheikh Mohammed establishes Dubai Media Council

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has enacted a law creating the Dubai Media Council. The law establishes a framework for the council to coordinate efforts to grow Dubai's media industry and strengthen the emirate's position as a regional and global media hub. Sheikh Mohammed also signed a decree designating Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the chairman of the Dubai Media Council and Mona Al Marri as the vice-chairperson and managing director. The Ruler of Dubai also created the list of board directors, which includes Hala Youssef Badri, His Excellency Malek Sultan Al Malek, Abdullah Humaid Belhoul, Younes Al Nasser, Amal Ahmed bin Shabib, Issam Kazim, and Mohammed Sulaiman Al Mulla. The board has a three-year term renewable term. Sheikh Ahmed, the newly instated chairman, said that the council is keen to work with different players in the sector to support the media in generating high-quality content. Sheikh Ahmed said that the law ushers in a new chapter of media sector growth in Dubai, in line with Sheikh Mohammed's vision. BKM/ Expat Media
