Measures by Sharjah Police now approved by Sharjah Council

Authorities in Sharjah will intensify a crackdown on massage parlors using indecent advertisements usually printed on business cards that are placed on cars. The renewed crackdown comes after the Sharjah Consultative  Council approved several recommendations from the General Command of the Sharjah Police. New policies will penalize massage parlors using indecent advertisements as part of efforts to “preserve the privacy of society.” Authorities have repeatedly warned residents about the dangers of visiting unlicensed massage parlors, saying that violators can face legal action as well as run the risk of being robbed or blackmailed. New measures approved in Sharjah also tackle beggars, fugitive workers, and illegal street vendors in the emirate. A rehabilitation centre is also set to be constructed for the treatment and recovery programs for drug addicts. In relation to road safety measures, delivery riders will be given training about safe driving to minimize the accidents on Sharjah’s roads. Sharjah Police will also see more technology integrated into their systems. Smart systems will be used to monitor traffic congestion, identify accident hot spots, and increase the efficiency of police cars in responding to accidents. The local ambulance services will also be updated to the best practices at the international level. More policies will be tackled in the next 17th and final session of the council on June 16, 2022.
