Best and worst business class airports in the world revealed in a global study
After receiving the lowest overall score in recent research, Ninoy Aquino International Airport was dubbed "the worst business class airport in the world."
The top airports for business class travel in the globe were evaluated based on parameters such as the number of lounges, the number of destinations covered, the proportion of on-time flights, and the airport rating, according to a
study by global luggage storage app Bounce.
The survey found that Manila's airport, dubbed the "main gateway to the Philippines," had the lowest scores in three categories: number of destinations, on-time performance, and Skytrax rating.
NAIA received a ranking based on its 14 lounges, 101 destinations served, 59.6 percent of on-time flights annually, and a Skytrax airport rating of 3/5, giving it a 0.88 out of 10 total score.
Gatwick Airport in the UK was ranked as the world's second-worst airport, with a score of 1.82 out of ten and a Skytrax rating of 3/5.
Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was ranked third poorest in the survey, receiving a score of 2.03 out of ten. Newark had a 3 out of 5 rating from Skytrax and just 69.4% of its flights arrived on time.
Singapore Airlines was named the finest business class airline in the world, receiving an overall score of 9.57 out of ten after topping all three categories.
Egyptair, on the other hand, came in lowest position in every category and had a 5.71 out of 10 overall score.
According to Bounce, Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, is the best business class airport in the world, with 43 lounges and 239 routes to select from, earning it a 7.10 overall score.
Each airport was given a normalized score out of 10 for each factor before an average was calculated.
These were calculated using the number of lounges mentioned on LoungeBuddy, the number of destinations served by the airport according to Wikipedia, the airport's Skytrax rating out of five, and OAG's percentage of on-time flights between June 2018 and May 2019.
