COVID restrictions, flight suspensions lifted in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday (March 5) that all cautious and preventive measures relating to the Covid-19 pandemic would be lifted, according to the state news agency. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) explained that the decision was based on "the follow-up to the epidemiological situation of coronavirus, the competent health authorities’ feedback, and the progress that has been achieved in combating the pandemic.” The SPA also highlighted the success made in the national vaccination campaign, as well as the community's high rates of immunization. As a result, PCR tests and quick antigen tests are no longer required of passengers entering the country, according to the interior ministry. Travelers visiting the kingdom are no longer required to undergo quarantine upon arrival. However, all travelers entering the nation on visit visas must have medical insurance to cover the costs of treatment in case of infection during their stay. Masks are no longer required in open locations, and social distancing measures have been lifted in all open and closed places, activities, and events. In the last three days, Saudi Arabia has reported less than 500 daily Covid-19 cases, indicating that the bulk of the population has been vaccinated. The public has been reminded to take the third booster dose.
