DFA allows a courtesy lane for OFW walk-ins
PHILIPPINES - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will allow courtesy lane walk-in passport appointments particularly for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) starting March 14. The department will accommodate fully vaccinated and eligible applicants for the passport courtesy lane in their Aseana office from 1pm to 5pm.— DFA Philippines (@DFAPHL) March 9, 2022OFWs who can avail of their services must prove to be active with their current and valid employment contract. The policy was made after the reports of selling passport appointment slots on social media despite being supposedly free of charge as well as the issue of the spread of fixers. Last January, the DFA reported that there is a reservation of 13,650 passport appointment slots for land-based and sea-based OFWs to address the “clamor of licensed recruitment and manning agencies” but only 614 of the allotted slots were used.
