Court orders party organizing company to return Dh12,000 to woman

The Al Ain Court of First Instance ordered a party planning firm to refund a woman Dh12,000, the balance of the money she paid to the company to plan her brother's wedding. Due to the death of a groom's relative, the party was canceled. The dispute began when the woman filed a lawsuit seeking that the corporation pay her Dhs12,000 in addition to the costs and expenses associated with the case. The plaintiff stated that she agreed to let the company organize her brother's wedding in exchange for Dh21,000, of which she had previously paid Dh14,000 to the company. However, she negotiated with the corporation to terminate the contract owing to the death of a relative. The company repaid her Dhs2,000 but took a long time to restore the rest of the money, she claimed. The plaintiff included two invoices from the corporation with the complaint papers, indicating that the disagreement had been brought to the Conciliation and Reconciliation Committee for resolution. The corporation was ordered by the court to pay the plaintiff Dhs12,000 in damages. KMB/Expat Media
