Abu Dhabi: Customs certificate for vehicle registration can now be processed online

The Abu Dhabi Customs General Administration has announced the automation of customs certifications for car registration. It is the first state-level customs authority to allow customers to apply for digital certificates that include a QR code for authentication and protection through the TAMM unified government services platform. The Abu Dhabi system provides customs certificate data to the Federal Traffic System for distribution to licensing offices, saving clients time, effort, and money. The new system for obtaining customs certificates keeps up with Abu Dhabi Customs' rapid digital transformation, which can lead to paperless customs services. Before the automation, the certificate issuance service requires customers to visit the Customer Happiness Centre or one of the customs centers at border crossing points to print the certificate on paper. According to the General Administration of Customs Abu Dhabi, automating customs certificates for car registration and modes of transportation helps consumers by delivering an innovative digital solution that saves time and money while also avoiding trips to customs centers. The innovation started after the authority saw a significant increase in demand for customs certificates. This demand prompted the administration to start developing a plan to completely automate the issuance of customs certificates for vehicle registration and modes of transportation by the end of April 2022.
